Yesterday´s SoSECE Seminar at Laurea UAS brought together experts and practitioners from four countries to discuss socially sustainable early childhood education and care.

📍 On 23 September, the first round table in Estoni

📍 On 23 September, the first round table in Estonia within the SoSECE project took place at the Rakvere City Kindergarten’s garden house, bringing together local government education specialists and social pedagogues.

👥 A total of 55 participants from different regions of Estonia registered for the event, which was held both on-site and online.

💡 The University of Tartu Narva College project team presented the SoSECE project and shared the results of the research conducted within the framework of the project.

🤝 In the second part of the roundtable, participants discussed how multiprofessional teams operate in different municipalities across Estonia and what should be considered to make their work more effective. Input was also collected via a survey for the upcoming training program.

Many thanks to all participants for their valuable ideas and contributions!

What we were sharing at EECERA 2025 📣

This year at the EECERA Conference, we were excited to present findings from our baseline assessments. Our symposium featured three insightful presentations:

1. Multi-professional Teamwork in ECEC – Recognized Benefits and Challenges in Practice

This session explores the emerging role of social pedagogues in Finnish early childhood education. Working alongside ECEC teachers and child carers, social pedagogues bring a unique perspective that may enhance inclusive and socially sustainable practices.

2. Enhancing the Development of Multiprofessional Competences in ECEC and Child Welfare Teams: Case of Latvia and Lithuania

This presentation highlights the importance of intentional workforce development. It focuses on building cohesive, competent, and child-centered teams in ECEC and child welfare settings.

3. Social Pedagogical Approach in Estonian Kindergartens

Here, we examine how multi-professional teamwork can be implemented in Estonian kindergartens and how ECEC policies and curricula can evolve to support collaboration and strengthen the role of social pedagogues.

Greetings from Slovakia!

Our SoSECE team has gathered in the beautiful and sunny city of Bratislava to exchange ideas with fellow researchers, educators, and practitioners at the EECERA Conference.

EECERA’s Annual Conference is the largest early childhood research event in Europe, offering an exceptional forum and network for scholars, policymakers, researchers, and practitioners. This year marks the 33rd edition of the conference, with over 700 participants in attendance.

The 2025 theme, Early Education for All: Celebrating Diversity and Seeking Inclusion, resonates strongly with the goals of our SoSECE project. During the opening ceremony, we were inspired by powerful speeches that reminded us why this work is so meaningful.

SoSECE team was honored to join a group photo with EECERA President Professor Chris Pascal and Professor Tony Bertram, both passionate advocates for amplifying children’s voices.

🎓 Our main intervention: a free 3 ECTS MOOC – open soon to ECEC professionals, students, administrators & policymakers across Europe!
